Martha joined the Board of Directors of The Townships Project in 2006, and played an instrumental role in the creation of the Lend to End [poverty] fundraising event held annually in Toronto on the second Thursday in May.  Martha acted as Education Committee Chair for this event from 2007 until 2009.

Martha has been a speech language pathologist with the Toronto Board of Education since 2001.

Martha is also a member of the Board of Directors of the COMART Foundation and active in a number of social justice and environmental issues, providing leadership to young people in Canada and abroad.  She is active in many outdoor activities (swimming, rowing, running, hiking, kayaking) as well as a practitioner of yoga and meditation.
