Jocelyn Pritchard
Jocelyn was a founding Director and the founding Chair of The Townships Project. Jocelyn and Martha Deacon, the founder of The Townships Project, were travelling together in South Africa in 1998 when the project was created.
Jocelyn has been a performer (piano and organ), teacher (community, university and college levels), choral conductor, adjudicator (piano and choral), and professional church musician in the United Church of Canada as well as the creator and organizer of many festivals, concerts and workshops for the past 35 years. Her activities include 25 years as the Founder/Co-ordinator of the annual Church Music Symposium in Vancouver, the Dunbar Summer School of Music (out of which singer Simone Osborne came; see under Volunteers), the Festival of Contemporary Music and the Festival of Canadian Music. She has served actively in many roles with The British Columbia Choral Federation, the Naramata Summer School of Music Arts, Jubilate! Chamber Choir and the University Women’s Club of Vancouver. Jocelyn is the mother of five children (three of whom are professional musicians) and the grandmother of nine.
