David Martin is a Director of Comart Foundation, a private Canadian Foundation, to which he devotes much of his time since his retirement in 2004. He travels twice annually to Ethiopia, Kenya and South Africa with representatives of Coady International Institute. His work focuses on strengthening the theory and practice of Asset-Based Community-Driven Development (ABCD), with current efforts zeroing in on incorporating commercial solutions with ABCD. This interest coincides with the focus of The Townships Project. Mr. Martin trained as a lawyer and briefly practiced law with Fraser & Beatty (now Fraser Milner) in Toronto. In 1978, he moved to head a manufacturing company, which he sold in 2000.
